5 Romance Books every teenager should read

Serpent & Dove (By Shelby Mahurin)

A delicious read with nice worldbuilding, this book was on my TBR for a while, and I’ve only just started reading it. So far, I like it quite a bit. More of historical fantasy, you will see Christian Witch hunters and their misogynistic views, as well as Witches, described as heathens by the rest of the world. I picked up the book because I want to start getting into romance, and I have not been disappointed at all.

The only complaints would be that the male lead is a total misogynist, which makes him much less attractive in my opinion. Just a warning that you will see the popular tropes of Fake Marriage and Forced Proximity being used.

Frankly In Love (By David Yoon)

The main character of the story is Frank Li, who is the type of character which a lot of people can relate to. The book was vividly described to me in detail by a friend who read it and had a lot to say about it. While the story has garnered many positive reviews due to its Asian American characters, it isn’t the only selling point. I like the story for its fresh take on relationship drama, and how it portrays the woes of Asian kids.

I can’t help but laugh out loud at the way Yoon has executed the Fake Dating trope. I don’t want to spoil the story much, but the main character isn’t someone you’ll root for at all times. In fact, you may even cringe at some of his decisions. Luckily, teens are pretty cringy, so I guess Frankly In Love is perfect in that sense.

The Sun is Also a Star (By Nicola Yoon)

Short chapters accompanied by convincing first-person pov, Nicola Yoon does an awesome job at showing what first person perspective is really like. The characterization is on point, and you can see how the two main leads get closer to each other. Go and give it a try, and if you like it, maybe you’ll watch the movie as well.

The Lemon Sisters (By Jill Shalvis)

Book 3 of The Wildstone Series, the story can be read as a standalone and has an interesting plotline. As one of the books on my Romance TBR, I can’t wait to read it. Sadly, I have four other books stashed in my room for reading, so I haven’t gotten around to it yet. A book with a solid premise and great reviews from the person who recommended it to me, I hope you like the story, and I hope I will as well.

Loveboat, Taipei (By: Abigail Hing Wen)

Does this one even need a description? It checks all the boxes for your favorite sleepaway camp romances, and even has juicy secrets to boot! Go read it! I know I will…
